Is the BBC on commission to promote Maidenhead??

No sooner does The Tudors finish than up pops Fanny Hill and she too starts discussing the virtues of the town!

Mark you I thought her wish to protect it was no where near as determined as Ann Boleyn’s…

But perhaps that’s just a sign of the times!

This wasn’t broadcast but someonelse took my lead and wrote a very funny piece about the search for Maidenhead- I take my hat off to him!

You will be relieved to know this is my final communication on the subject of The Tudors.

Hoorah I hear you say!!

At last , in the final moments on Friday, the walls of Maidenhead were breached by Henry – with what looked like Anne’s full consent and approval!

I had hoped the final episode would go out with a bang…………………….And it did!!

It just goes to show persistence has it’s rewards and it also explains why the lovely market town of Maidenhead has no walls intact!

Ah it’s Friday again (who says I’m not observant), and another episode of the
Risqué romp that is “The Tudors”. I do hope we are in for a better episode than last week’s – which was sadly lacking in risk and romp!

We still have high hopes of a good raunchy scene between Henry and Ann – though I have to say Henry seems to have lost the will to strip off in recent weeks. Perhaps it’s the colder weather we’re experiencing at the moment.

Broadcast – well the essentials!

You were, of course, right about Maidenhead. Reluctantly – I bow to your superior knowledge.

However, The Major and I were somewhat surprised at Catherine’s sudden claim to have arrived as Henry’s bride in full ownership of Maidenhead.

As for the rest of the episode, we were sadly disappointed with the lack of progress and risqué romps on Friday night.

All this despite Henry’s envoys whizzing back and forth to Paris and Rome at speeds which would be the envy of many an airline today.

I do think that a level of resolution to the current unsatisfactory “state of affairs” needs to come about – after all he’s got several more wives to get through yet and at this rate I’ll die of old age before the end – never mind Henry.

We’re not bothered about the factual content – Not at all – who Cares!

Will Henry and Anne finally get their kit off?

And if so will they also discuss the outstanding issue of the Siege of Maidenhead.

I was particularly baffled by Friday night’s episode of the Tudors.

In the middle of what had the makings of a fairly Risqué scene King Henry and Anne Boleyn suddenly started to discuss geography and travel

Anne Boleyn seemed strangely determined to preserve Maidenhead and definitely not let Henry anywhere near it. But then claimed she would be happy to let Henry go there once he was her husband.

Henry on the other hand seemed determined to lay siege on Maidenhead regardless.

I know I am no history scholar but I am surprised at the number of references to what, in those days, must have been a very small market town somewhat removed from London and therefore difficult to reach.

I’m pleased to see the BBC is already taking its Cost Cutting to heart.

Brilliant start – leaving the costumes out of a number of scenes of their latest Costume Dramas – The Tudors and now Fanny Hill on BBC4.

An excellent wheeze to have everyone get their kit off at every opportunity – The clothing savings must be enormous!
