The Dawn Chorus on International Dawn Chorus Day

Well! Major Dickie and I got up at 3.30 this morning to go and join in the listening fun at our local nature reserve – The Warburg Reserve in the Bix valley

All great fun it was too. Phil Mercer from Radio Oxford had turned out and merrily chatted to us – recording every word!

The Robins, Thrushes and Blackbirds set the whole show in motion. Little did we realise that Phil had to get back to hone his script – ready to be ‘on air’ for 6.00am. Gosh it made me think of the Togmeister and his daily toil!

Having heard chiffchaffs, willow warblers, chaffinches and a range of tits, we were fed a very jolly breakfast cooked up on a camp stove in the carpark

A big thank you to BBOWT for organising it.

We then returned home and went back to bed to recover.

We got home in time to switch on to Phil’s show and surprise, surprise, yours truly, dear reader, made an appearance!

Don’t worry I shan’t let it go to my head!!
